Who We Are

Greetings!  We are the Bates family and serve as missionaries at Network211.

God called Michael to missions during times of intercession in a world prayer group at Bible college.  He felt called to reach people in Asia. After a period of stateside ministry in an inner city area, he left for Asia in 2001.

Laura had a similar path in her life.  She was also in Asia at this time, teaching in an international school. She has a real love for people and enjoys ministering to children.  Michael and Laura were married in 2004 and have since had two girls born:  Emily and Elly.

Serving overseas has been rewarding to us.  It has allowed us to show compassion to orphans and people living in poverty; to improve the lives of people in rural areas with lack of access to clean drinking water and basic necessities; to build relationships with neighbors and college students; and to introduce Christ to people looking for an answer to their spiritual needs.

We believe that every Christian should model their lives after Jesus and demonstrate His love and truth to all people.  We have a passion to share the Gospel with those who have never heard.

What We Do

Technology is changing how people interact and learn.  Young people in Northern Asia spend more time online than watching TV.

We have joined with Network 211 to reach people in Asia.  This ministry is able to bring answers to the searching, hope to those in despair, and a personal interaction with someone who will uplift, encourage and pray for those who are hurting.  Our gospel presentations are in 12 languages and share Christ in short videos and articles that address life needs.

Our team at Network 211 has a number of evangelism and ministry sites which you may check out:

  • (helps people discover Jesus and grow in a relationship with Him)
  • (shares an overview of the life of Christ and His significance to your life)
  • (Spiritual resources for those serving in the military and their families)
